Theatre outside of theatres: live art as a way of restructuring togetherness

How may we stage being together? What can urbanism learn from live art? When in times of hyper-individualisation will we invent a collective utopia?

Caroline Barneaud is director of international projects in Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne. Stefan Kaegi is a founding members of the Berlin-based theatre label Rimini Protokoll and a leading figure of European theatre  Together they have produced a serious of live-art projects outside of conventional theatre spaces: collective audiotours, documentary truck rides or immersive construction site-experiences. They join the urbanology residency to reflect on ephemeral timebased formats for public spaces, decentralized urban interventions as «Utopolis»* and on theatre outside of urban infrastructures in nature - or whatever is left of it.

Caroline Barneaud est la directrice des projets internationaux du Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne. Stefan Kaegi est l'un des membres fondateurs du label de théâtre berlinois Rimini Protokoll et une figure majeure du théâtre européen. Ensemble, ils ont produit une série de projets d'art vivant en dehors des espaces théâtraux conventionnels : audiotours collectifs, balades en camion documentaire ou expériences immersives sur des chantiers de construction.

Ils se joignent à la résidence d’urbanologie pour réfléchir à des formats éphémères basés sur le temps pour les espaces publics, à des interventions urbaines décentralisées comme "Utopolis "* et au théâtre en dehors des infrastructures urbaines dans la nature - ou ce qu'il en reste.
